Repurposed Industrial Sanctuaries

Concrete. Steel. Rusted corrugated iron. When heavy industry dies, we move in. These structures were built for utility and labor, not comfort. We celebrate the brutalist aesthetic of grain silos, coal cranes, and abandoned factories.

Massive dark industrial concrete structures and silos against a bleak sky

SiloStay

Location: Little River, Banks Peninsula, New Zealand.

Structural Data: Custom-built grain silos converted into multi-level apartments. The corrugated steel exterior hides heavy insulation and eco-boilers. Industrial utility meets stark isolation.

The Krane

Location: Nordhavn, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Structural Data: An old coal crane hovering above the harbor. The interior is a sensory deprivation exercise in pure black minimalism. You sleep in the former machine room.

La Fábrica (Bofill's Factory)

Location: Sant Just Desvern, Barcelona, Spain.

Structural Data: A sprawling WWI-era cement factory. 30 massive silos, subterranean galleries, and engine rooms transformed into a labyrinthine architectural masterpiece.

Crane Hotel Faralda

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Structural Data: 50 meters high in the NDSM shipyard. A monumental piece of maritime history. The crane still rotates in the wind, shifting your view of the industrial docklands.
